Isafjordur, Vikings and Rain!

Yesterday we visited the beautiful Isafjordur, Iceland and were greeted with a lovely view and an enjoyably rainy day.

For our excursion, we boarded a motor coach and drove the 40 minutes to þingeyri (þ is pronounced like a th) where we went to the Skálinn Viking Center. Here we learned about how the Vikings lived and the different crafts they practiced. The couple who founded and run the center were very knowledgeable and helped us to making some Vikings style bread over an open fire on metal pans.

I was even able to form our names in runes.

Overall, a wonderful way to spend part of our day!

After our tour we, we met family at a restaurant that served a traditional fish-focused meal which was phenomenal! The staff was so lovely and made you feel like a treasured guest.

Upon our arrival back to the ship, a shower and a change of clothes we enjoyed some dinner and drinks, but the night was cut short by the very rocky seas with up to 12 foot waves.
